The Most Reverend Richard J. Malone, Th.D., has announced the following assignments for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland:
Effective Sept. 1, Msgr. J. Joseph Ford will be assigned as administrator of Sacred Heart, Yarmouth, and St. Jude, Freeport, in addition to his current assignment as administrator at Holy Martyrs, Falmouth, and St. Gregory, Gray.
The Rev. James Brewer will be assigned as parochial vicar of Good Shepherd Parish, Biddeford-Saco, Old Orchard Beach, effective July 1 to Aug. 31, and then will be parochial vicar for Sacred Heart, Yarmouth; St. Jude, Freeport; Holy Martyrs, Falmouth; and St. Gregory, Gray, effective Sept. 1. Brewer is currently administrator of St. Philip, Lyman.
Msgr. Rene Mathieu has been named pastor of Good Shepherd Parish, which, as of July 1, will include the churches in Biddeford-Saco as well as St. Margaret/St. Luke, Old Orchard Beach, and St. Philip, Lyman.
The Rev. David Schlaver, CSC, who has been serving as temporary administrator for St. Margaret, Old Orchard Beach, will resume his status as priest on sabbatical and will continue to assist as an extern priest.
The Rev. Joseph Daniels, parochial vicar of Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston, has been named administrator of Corpus Christi and Christ the King parishes, effective July 1. Corpus Christi Parish includes Immaculate Heart of Mary, Fairfield; Notre Dame and Sacred Heart, Waterville; St. Bridget, North Vassalboro; St. John the Baptist, Winslow; St. Theresa, Oakland; and St. Helena, Belgrade Lakes. Christ the King Parish includes Notre Dame de Lourdes, Skowhegan; St. Peter, Bingham; and St. Sebastian, Madison.
Daniels is replacing the Rev. Philip Tracy, who has been named pastor of Holy Savior, Rumford, which also includes Our Lady of the Snows, Bethel. Tracy has been serving the parishes of Corpus Christi and Christ the King since July 2004. The assignment is effective Aug. 1.
The Rev. Kevin Martin is named parochial vicar to St. Michael Parish, Augusta, which includes churches in Winthrop, Gardiner, Whitefield, and Litchfield. He is currently parochial vicar of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sacred Heart/St. Dominic, St. Louis and St. Peter parishes in Portland.
The Rev. Kent Ouellette is named administrator of St. Agnes, Pittsfield, and Our Lady of the Snows, Dover-Foxcroft, which includes churches in Dexter and Milo. Ouellette is currently parochial vicar of St. Paul the Apostle, Bangor, which includes churches in Brewer, Winterport and Hampden.
The Rev. Mark Nolette will be half-time parochial vicar at St. Brendan the Navigator, Camden, which includes churches in Rockland and Belfast, and half-time assigned to a life of spiritual discernment and prayer. He is currently administrator of St. Agnes, Pittsfield, and Our Lady of the Snows, Dover-Foxcroft.
The Rev. Antonyiar Soosai, HGN, is named as a parochial vicar to St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor. Antonyiar, a native of India, is a priest of the Heralds of Good News missionary society and is currently a chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Portland.
After 43 years of service, the Rev. Lawrence Conley will retire from St. Anne, Gorham, on Aug. 1. He will minister on a fill-in basis in the Portland area.
The Rev. Joseph Koury is named administrator of St. Anne, Gorham, and St. Anthony, Westbrook, in addition to administrator of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Windham, and St. Joseph, Bridgton, which includes St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Fryeburg. This assignment is effective Aug. 1.
The Rev. Brian Blanchette is named parochial vicar of St. Anne, Gorham, and St. Anthony, Westbrook, effective Aug. 1, in addition to his current position as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Windham, and St. Joseph, Bridgton.
Effective Aug. 1, the Rev. Reginald Brissette is appointed senior priest for St. Anne, Gorham; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Windham; and St. Joseph, Bridgton, in addition to his current parish, St. Anthony, Westbrook.
