Today marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Thomas Goodall, founder of Sanford’s extensive textile mills that employed thousands until the mills closed in the 1950s. By that time, the mills were owned by another company, who moved production to the southern United States. Today, the mills are moving toward renaissance, as the town and private developers are working to transform the vast structures into viable commercial and residential niches.
