Sanford resident Troy Henke, a member of the committee formed to overturn the Town Council’s approval of the pay-as-you-throw trash removal system, handed over petitions to Town Clerk Claire Morrison this morning as fellow committee members Terry Brown and Steve Bruno look on. Pay-as-you-throw is set to go into effect July 12. If 689 of the 1,058 signatures are certified, the issue will to go the voters in a referendum, most likely in November.
