WESTBROOK — Mayor Colleen Hilton has been granted a protection from harassment order against the city’s former finance director.
According to Hilton’s complaint, Susan Rossignol has been displaying “increasing and elevating anger” toward the mayor, and, in one instance, toward her family. Hilton had announced in her inaugural address in January that she was not reappointing Rossignol. Rossignol was told the following month that she was not chosen for a new chief financial planner position.
The March 22 complaint accuses Rossignol, 60, of Westbrook, of disrupting the work of city employees and doing so again after being told to stay away from City Hall unless she has business to conduct. Hilton also stated in the complaint that Rossignol later accosted her and her family members at the dedication of the city’s new middle school.
The temporary protection from harassment order bars Rossignol from contact with Hilton or being around her home or workplace. Rossignol is scheduled to appear in District Court on April 26.
Police also served Rossignol with a notice of criminal trespass last week, according to Capt. Tom Roth. It bars her from City Hall for a year, he said.
Rossignol could not be reached for comment.
