This week

On Thursday, June Fitzpartrick Gallery at Maine College of Art opens an exhibition of work created at Vinalhaven Press from 1984 to 2002. In addition to prints made at the press, the “Vinalhaven Press” exhibition will include development work, proofs and drawings.

Patricia Nick founded and directed the island press, and hosted summer workshops. While in operation, the press attracted master printmakers to Maine. When the press closed, the Smithsonian Institution acquired its archive.

The exhibition at June Fitzpatrick benefits the Contemporary Art Fund of the Portland Museum of Art. It opens with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday; the show will remain on view through April 24. The gallery is at 522 Congress St. For information, call 699-5083 or visit www.junefitzpatrickgallery.com.

Zero Station, a gallery at 222 Anderson St., Portland, will host an exhibition of Portland photographs titled “Seeing Portland — 1970 to 1984.” The images in this show were culled from the collections of local photographers working in Portland in the 1970s, during a time after urban renewal and before the city’s rebirth.
