Dwayne Raymond
Dwayne Raymond was busting his butt at a Provincetown restaurant when he first met Pulitzer Prize-winning author Norman Mailer. Mailer took an interest in the aspiring writer. One day in 2003, Mailer reached out, hiring Raymond as an editorial assistant. They worked together, becoming friends, until Mailer’s death in 2007. In his book, ”Mornings with Mailer,” Raymond shares Mailer’s private side. Raymond will talk about his book tonight. Call 772-4045 for information.

”Cinderella”

”Jesus Christ Superstar”
The national touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s and Tim Rice’s musical, ”Jesus Christ Superstar,” is in Augusta tonight and in Orono on Saturday. The Orono show at the Collins Center is sold out. The touring production stars Ted Neeley as Jesus. Neeley first played the role in the show’s first touring production in 1972. Phillip Hoose
The Portland Public Library and the Portland branch of the NAACP are holding a community celebration for Phillip Hoose — and his book, ”Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice” — who received a National Book Award and a Newbery Honor for his work. Fairy Tale Players

Solo Tuba
Dan Hunter, a music faculty member at the University of Southern Maine, offers a concert Friday night celebrating the sound of the tuba. Devonsquare/Schooner Fare
The remaining members of two of the state’s renowned bands, Devonsquare and Schooner Fare, reunite every year to perform a concert benefiting the Jack McPhillips Memorial Fund.
