12 & 13 celebrate:
Cape Elizabeth’s Mike Holden (left) and Ben Brewster celebrate Holden’s first half goal in the Class B state boys lacrosse championship game against Yarmouth on June 20. The Capers won the Western Maine championship for the second straight season, but ultimately fell to Yarmouth, 12-9, in the state game.

Carrier and Griffin:
Scarborough’s Heather Carrier gives coach Tom Griffin a big hug after the Red Storm defeated Skowhegan, 3-1, for the Class A softball championship, which was postponed several times due to rain and moved from Augusta to Brewer. The Storm was not deterred, capping a 19-1 season with the ultimate prize.

Alexis Bogdanovich 2:
South Portland pitcher Alexis Bogdanovich helped the young Red Riots softball team advance all the way to the Western Maine Class A finals, where it fell to eventual state champion Scarborough. South Portland finished its season at 15-4.

Scarborough freshman Kasia Jania was the state girls tennis singles runner-up. She was also dominant as the No. 1 singles player for the Red Storm, winning all of her matches.
