A number of local athletes recently received all-SMAA recognition for their performances over the past spring in outdoor track.

On the boys side, named to the first team were Scarborough’s Nate Hathaway (1,600-meter run) and Scarborough’s Brad Nakanishi (pole vault). Selected to the second team were Scarborough’s Sam Chick (800 run and 300 intermediate hurdles), Scarborough’s Craig Robinson (3,200 run) and Scarborough’s Ross Thomas (high jump). Receiving honorable mention were South Portland’s David Hardison (300 intermediate hurdles) and Scarborough’s Brian Woodbury (shot put).

First team honorees on the girls side included Scarborough’s Rachelle Greene (100 dash, 200 dash), Scarborough’s Jenny Snyder (100 hurdles), Scarborough’s Emilia Sheemaker (triple jump), Scarborough’s Christy Manning (javelin), Scarborough’s 4 x 400 relay team of Greene, Nicole Kirk, Whitney Chamberlain and Abby Chick, Scarborough’s 4 x 800 relay team of Meghan Summerson, Molly O’Connor, Chick and Chamberlain, and Scarborough’s 4 x 100 relay team of Snyder, Andrea Tolman, Kirk and Greene.

Named to the girls second team were Kirk (100 dash), Chick (400 dash), Chamberlain (800 run), Sheemaker (long jump), Tolman (pole vault) and Manning (shot put and discus). Receiving honorable mention were Kirk (200 dash) and South Portland’s Vanessa Johnston (1,600 race walk).
