Ridgeway awarded scholarship
Kaitlin Ridgeway, who graduated from Gorham High School this month, has been selected to receive a four-year, $4,000 scholarship from the Amvets.
Ridgeway will pursue a degree in nursing and will attend the University of Southern Maine. She is the daughter of Kristis Walker of Gorham and Mark Ridgeway, Topsham.
Rodney Anderson, commander of the Amvets Department of Maine, recently announced that Ridgeway was the recipient of the organization’s national scholarship program.
Northeastern dean’s list
Two students from Gorham were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.
They are Jessica Bryson and Andrew Dresser. Bryson is majoring in communications studies and Dresser is a music major.
Who knew?
The boundary lines of Narragansett No. 7, later to be incorporated as Gorham, were drawn 275 years ago in 1734, according to the Gorham Historical Society Web site.
The society’s archive, 28 School St,, is open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursdays from April to October.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of Public Debt reported on June 18 that the U.S. public debt was $11,399,258,796,766.10.
