Roukey wins
scholarship
The University of Maine Foundation has announced Daniel Roukey is the 2009 recipient of the Henry and Marjorie Saunders Scholarship.
Roukey is the son of Teresa and Sean Bonney.
The $3,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is academically strong and exemplifies the spirit of excellence. The student must attend the University of Maine in Orono.
The scholarship is the gift to Westbrook students from Henry and Marjorie Saunders, longtime Westbrook citizens. It is founded in perpetuity with the University of Maine Foundation and was established in 2001.
Bombard on
dean’s list
Amanda Bombard has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of New England in Biddeford/Portland.
Bombard is majoring in pre-pharmacy and is an active member of the Pre-pharmacy Club.
A graduate of Westbrook High School in 2008, Bombard is the daughter of William and Nancy Bombard of Hawthorne Lane.
Dahms earns degree
Christopher L. Dahms of Westbrook was one of 418 members of the class of 2009 awarded degrees during commencement exercises last month at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.
Dahms graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in economics.
Cabbage Island trip
Westbrook Senior Citizens on Sunday, July 12, will travel to Maine’s Cabbage Island for a lobster-chicken bake.

The Westbrook Historical Society is sponsoring a free viewing of “Wall-E” at Riverbank Park on Friday, June 26, at 8:15 p.m. Bring your own seats and snacks.
Class of ’89 reunion
Members of Westbrook High School Class of 1989 can celebrate their 20th reunion – and that mullets and big hair are a thing of the past – at two events this summer.
The reunion will kick off with an informal get-together at The Pearl, formerly Cadillac Jack’s, on Fore Street in Portland from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, July 31. The fun will continue the next day with food and dance from 7:30-11:30 p.m. at Keeley the Katerer, 178 Warren Ave., Portland.
The event on Saturday costs $35 per person and $65 for a couple.
