TOPSHAM — Emily K. Greig, 101, died June 10 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

She was born in Milford, Mass., on Sep. 22, 1907, the daughter of Emily C. Gordon and Henry M. Fox.

At age 4, she moved to Topsham and was educated in local schools. She graduated from the Maine School of Commerce in Lewiston, where she traveled to classes in electric cars.

She was predeceased by her first husband, L. Fredrick Longfellow, in the 1930’s.

In 1945, she married William E. Greig of West Bath. During World War II, she worked at Bath Iron Works while he was a member of the Merchant Marines. Together they raised four children in the house they shared in Topsham since 1945.

From 1951-1972, she served in a variety of functions for the Topsham municipal offices, including office manager, deputy Town Clerk and assistant to the Assessor.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Topsham Firemen’s Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Topsham Grange, the Garden Club and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Henry M. Fox and Robert Fox, and two sisters, Mary Sawyer Briggs and Alice Haskell.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William; four children, Mona Longfellow Cunningham of South Windsor, Conn., Barbara Longfellow Thompson and her husband, James, of Marshall, Mo., Henry Fox Greig and his wife, Cova, of Dover, N.H., Ellen Greig Stinson and her husband, Walter, of Standish; a brother, George E. Fox, of Topsham; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.
