PORTLAND — Margaret J. “Peggy” Joyce Concannon, 86, died May 24 surrounded by her family at Maine Medical Center from complications due to pneumonia.
She was born in Portland on Jan. 22, 1923, a daughter of Michael Joyce and Delia (Duffy) Joyce.
In 1941, she graduated from Cathedral High School.
She worked for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company.
For over 20 years, she was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen.
She was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a member of the Irish-American Club.
Her interests included crossword puzzles, the Red Sox, reading and family gatherings.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary A. Griffin in 2008 and her nephew, Martin Griffin in 1996.
She is survived by her husband, Martin F. “Mert” Concannon of Portland; her brothers, Martin “Beano” Joyce, John M. Joyce and his wife Faye of South Portland, and her sisters, Bridget H. Malia and Katherine F. Joyce, all of Portland; nieces Joyce Malia, Kathi Twombly, Jeanne Malia, Lisa Gale, Regina Joyce and nephew, John M. Griffin; extended family and special friends.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.
