The auction under the tent is always one of the main attractions at Together Days.
The action starts at noon on Saturday, June 6. It’s an opportunity for fairgoers to bid on bargains while supporting Westbrook Together Days.
Promising to have something of interest for nearly everyone, this year’s will have more than 110 donated items on the auction block. Individuals and businesses in both Westbrook and surrounding communities have been generous in supporting this year’s auction despite the financial recession.
Leona Glidden once again organized the auction and gathered donations. Glidden said proceeds from the auction would help defray The cost of Westbrook Together Days. Last year, the auction raised $5,000.
Returning as auctioneers, Westbrook School Superintendent Stan Sawyer and realtor Al Juniewicz will drop the gavel on winning bids.
Juniewicz and Sawyer have been teaming up for the auction for four or five years after being asked. Juniewicz said they gladly continue as it generates a “good neighborly feeling” with an opportunity to meet their many friends.
“We did it and had so much fun that we keep doing it,” Juniewicz said.
Sawyer agreed that auctioning is a good time. “Al and I kid each other,” Sawyer said. “We’re friends. I’m realy looking forward to it.”
Both praised Glidden for the job she does. “She deserves a medal,” Juniewicz said.

As in past year’s, this year’s auction will include plenty of opportunities to take home gift certificates to local businesses. All the money raised goes to support Westbrook Together Days.
