ORR’S ISLAND — Grace Ann Leeman, 76, died May 16 after a long fight with Parkinson’s disease.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Farmington.
She taught in public school and also spent time teaching outside the classroom, including horseback riding lessons, and swimming as a water safety instructor.
Her hobbies included playing the piano, hiking, scuba diving and boating with her husband.
She was a member of the Orr’s/Bailey Island Yacht Club, and a former regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Philbrick and Clyde Philbrick.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth A. Leeman; three children, Karin A. Dunlap of Topsham, Mary A. Fortier of Gilmington Iron Works, N.H., and Ann M. White of Alco, Ark.; a sister, Faith E. Schillinger of Richmond, a brother, Julian W. Philbrick of Natick, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Daniel M. Dunlap, Elizabeth A. Dunlap, Andrew A. Fortier and Joshua Fortier.
Services will be private.
