BRUNSWICK — Eugene “Gene” Hamrick, 74, died at home on May 11 surrounded by family.
He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Kingmont, W.Va., a son of Vilis and Beulah (Drake) Hamrick and attended local schools.
On Nov. 2, 1957, he married Dixie Thorne.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he began his 40-year career with Granite Paving in 1962, later known as H.C. Crooker & Sons Construction in Topsham.
He was an active member of the Masons, Ancient York Lodge, Lisbon Falls, and The American Legion, Post 202, Topsham. His favorite pasttimes included hunting and fishing at Smoke Hole, W.Va.
He was predeceased by his wife Dixie on Oct. 18, 2008, a brother, Donald “Dan” Hamrick and a daughter, Piper Parks.
He is survived by a son, Garret Hamrick and his wife Anita of Bowdoinham; a daughter, Sharon Gould of Lisbon Falls; his mother Beulah Hamrick of Fairmont, W.Va.; two brothers of Fairmont, W.Va., and a sister Irene Mayberry of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services at the request of his family.
