Garden club to hear Savoie

Kathy Savoie, a cooperative extension educator, will be the guest speaker when the Gorham Garden Club meets at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, May 26, at First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St.

Savoie will present a program entitled “Food and Nutrition for Cumberland County.”

The public is invited.

Summer reading in North Gorham

Virginia Rundell, director at North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road, this week announced dates for a summer reading program.

The programs begin on Thursday, June 25, 9:30 a.m. with storyteller Jody Fein, who returns this year; Friday, July 3, 9:30 a.m., sing along with Heather Pierson and her guitar and have fun with other instruments; Thursday, July 9, 9:30 a.m., sculpting with artist Anne Alexander; and Thursday, July 16, 9:30 a.m., take your dog, cat, or fuzzy worm to the library for a pet show.

Closing for holiday

Gorham town offices and Baxter Memorial Library will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

Graduation day

Gorham High School seniors will receive their diplomas in exercises at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.
