Friends and former co-workers of Ken and Belinda Taylor, the Westbrook couple who died as a result of murder-suicide in late April, are rallying in support of their children.
A dance marathon on Saturday and a golf tournament in June will raise money to support the girls.
Jennifer York, Belinda Taylor’s 24-year-old daughter, is in the process of adopting the couple’s 14- and 12-year-old daughters, Kaylee and Kiana Taylor, according to York’s friend, Nate Dyer.
“She’s really done an incredible job,” Dyer, who is organizing the golf tournament, said about York taking care of the younger girls.
He said they plan to move from her home in Belfast to Westbrook, and he hopes the fundraiser will help make that happen.
“It’s just a fun way for people to donate money to a good cause,” Dyer said.
Meanwhile, Belinda Taylor’s fellow dance aerobics instructors at Zumba Maine are putting on a dance marathon at the Westbrook High School gymnasium Saturday. From 1-4 p.m., the instructors will lead lessons and hold dance contests to raise money for the girls.
“This is the obvious way to raise money,” said Dinah Aldrich, who knew how passionate Belinda Taylor was about Zumba, an exercise routine inspired by Latin dance.
“She truly, truly enjoyed it,” Aldrich said.

Ken and Belinda Taylor died April 28. Police say Ken Taylor killed his wife and then himself.
