BATH — Raymond J. Favreau, 93, formerly of Brunswick, died April 24 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.
He was born in Brunswick on Sept. 8, 1915, the son of Telesphore and Zephirina (Schinck) Favreau.
He attended St. John’s and Brunswick schools.
On Oct. 15, 1938, he married Gabrielle Menard at St. John’s Church.
Over the years, he worked for a variety of different employers, including First National Grocery Store, Bath Iron Works, D’s Dairy, Oakhurst, Town of Brunswick Recreation Department, and retired from Service Merchandise.
After retiring in 1986, he and his wife moved to Florida for several years.
His hobbies included making plastic canvas crafts, playing cribbage and beano. He also coached Babe Ruth Baseball.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Vigilantes.
He was predeceased by his wife Gabrielle on Feb. 24, 1999, a daughter, Dolores Fournier, on Jan. 7, 2007, four brothers, Ronald, Rudolph, Fern and Felix and two sisters, Rhea and Edwina.
Surviving are two sons, Ben Favreau and his wife Kathy of West Bath and Bert Favreau and his wife Anna of Topsham, daughter Doris Herrick and her husband Greg of Poland; son in-law Joseph Fournier of Brunswick; three brothers Paul Favreau and his wife Rose, Leo Favreau and his wife Carol and Peter Favreau, all of Brunswick; two sisters Helen Terry and her husband Jack of Evans, Ga., and Dot Robinson of Brunswick; three sister in-laws, Eugene Lebourdais of Brunswick, Jane Menard and Ruth Favreau, both of Topsham; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.
