A Westbrook couple was found dead Tuesday afternoon, their bodies discovered by their teenage daughters returning home from school, said neighbors.
Neighbors said the couple, who lived in a condominium on Juniper Lane, were Ken and Belinda Taylor. Police would not disclose any information at the scene Tuesday, but confirmed the names of the couple and that they were dead. Police said the couple was in their mid 40s.
Described as good people who loved their children, friends and neighbors said they couldn’t fathom what might have happened Tuesday to result in their deaths.
“They’re the best people ever,” said Amanda Smith, who grew up in Westbrook with Belinda Taylor. She said they were friends since they were 9 years old. Smith, who lives in the same condominium complex, had been taking classes with Taylor, who was an aerobics instructor.
“They would do anything for anyone. They were both too good to be true,” Smith said. “It’s crazy.”
Dean Erickson, who worked with Ken Taylor at Overhead Door, said he came to stop by Tuesday afternoon because Taylor had left work early, which was unusual. He walked into the home just after the daughters had discovered the bodies.
“Kenny was a hardworking guy. He came to work every day. He loved his kids,” Erickson said.
“He loved his kids more than himself,” said David Stigile, a friend and neighbor.
Both Erickson and Smith couldn’t emphasize enough what good people and friends the Taylors were. A neighbor, Linda Ledoux, said she didn’t know them well, but she recalled one time Ken Taylor helped her carry several buckets of compost. She said she believed they had lived in the condo complex for about 10 years.
“They were good people,” Erickson said. “I don’t know what happened.”
