John Pascucci, 51, of Gorham, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to federal drug charges, U.S. Attorney Paula D. Silsby announced this week.
Pascucci, also known as “Scoochy,” faces a possible life sentence in prison and a fine of up to $8 million, or both. He was charged in September 2006, according to a statement from Silsby.
According to court records, from 2003 to sometime in 2006, Pascucci conspired with Michael Pelletier and others to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, and to distribute marijuana. The marijuana was smuggled across the St. John River into the United States from Canada by individuals working for Pelletier. Bulk quantities of marijuana would then be transported to Pelletier’s customers.
As one of Pelletier’s customers, Pascucci took delivery of marijuana from a person working for Pelletier. Pascucci would then meet Pelletier and pay him the proceeds for the previous marijuana delivery.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the investigation, assisted by Maine State Police, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Madawaska Police Department.
