Beacon Hospice of South Portland is starting a six-week support group focused on dealing with job loss.
The program, which is free, is designed to help individuals confront the challenges and cope with the feelings associated with a job loss.
“Losing one’s livelihood is one of life’s most stressful events. The emotional effects are similar to other losses – denial, anger, frustration, and adaptation – as well as a range of secondary losses, but you don’t have to do it alone,” said Heather Thompson of Beacon Hospice. “Many people have found it helpful to be able to talk about their feelings with a group of people going through the same process.”
The group will meet from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at 54 Atlantic Place, starting Jan. 29. To register and learn more, contact Heather Thompson at 772-0929.
Beacon Hospice, which has 1,250 patients, 650 staff members and 20 offices, provides end-of-life care to terminally ill patients.
