Where to celebrate the inauguration locally:
The Maine Democratic Party will celebrate the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama at the Asylum Sports Bar at 121 Center St. in Portland on Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.
Walker Memorial Library in Westbrook will hold an inauguration party on Jan. 20. The library, which opens at 10 a.m., will have the television on for the community to watch and discuss the historic event. The first floor of the library will be open to everyone.
Two South Portland Democratic activists are holding an inaugural celebration open to the public at the House of Pizza at 433 Cottage Road from 8-10 p.m. on Jan. 20. Guests will be able to get a free fountain drink or cup of coffee with any purchase off the menu.
