Hanscom in White Rock talk

Linda Hanscom will speak when the White Rock Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the community center across from the Grange hall on Wilson Road.

Hanscom’s topic is antique homes in Gorham. Hanscom is a member of the Windham Historical Society.

‘Ubart’ exhibit at USM

The art gallery on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine will present a display by Juris Ubans beginning Tuesday and continuing through Sunday, Feb. 15.

The exhibit is entitled “Ubart: A Retrospective,” showcasing 40 years of work by Ubans, as an artist, educator and collector. Ubans will retire from the university on Aug. 31.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and 1-5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays. A reception will be 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, with a snow date of Sunday, Feb. 8.

The show also includes gallery talks at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, and 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8.

Home school connection

Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St., is hosting its first Home School Connection meeting on Wednesday.

Those who are a home-schooler or thinking about home-schooling a child or perhaps have a service to offer or share with others are welcome.

This group will decide at this initial meeting just what connections will be made or direction that will be taken. Children may attend with adults. For more information, call Youth Services at 839-5031
