Speaking for myself, I want to know what citizens are thinking about the future of law enforcement in Gray. I hope that the public will attend the Gray Town Council’s special forum on policing on Jan. 26 at Stimson Hall to listen to the variety of ideas being considered, and to express opinions about the subject.

I have heard some say that more local policing is long overdue, and others say that we can’t afford more expense. Some think we should explore many ideas but make no changes right away. Some believe in regionalization, some want to leave everything to the sheriff’s department, and others want the town to take over responsibility.

And what size budget addition would you support, if any?
