Tree collection
Westbrook’s Public Services Department, will collect and recycle Christmas trees starting Dec. 29 through Jan. 16.
Residents should place the trees, free of decorations, tree stand, and/or other metal objects, curbside during the collection period. This program is for natural grown trees only. No wreaths or artificial trees will be accepted.
Drop-off of Christmas trees will also be accepted at the Public Services Department located at 371 Saco St., Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Remembering the needy
Employees of Maine Center for Healthcare, 2 Chabot St., in Westbrook adopted four needy families with children for the holidays.
In addition to toys, each family received a gift basket with food, gifts, gift certificates and $1,000. Cleta Stockwell of Stockwell Medical said 150 employees, including physicians and staff, contributed.
“This truly is the season for giving,” Stockwell said in a prepared statement.
