The Windham High wrestling team is off to a solid start this season. The Eagles won two of their three matches at their opening meet on Dec. 6, defeating Oxford Hills (42-36) and Nokomis (33-30), while narrowly losing to MCI (36-34). On Dec. 10, the Eagles defeated Scarborough, 40-36.
Windham was scheduled to host Marshwood on Thursday in a match after the Lakes Region Weekly’s deadline. The Eagles remain home on Saturday, hosting Portland and Scarborough starting at 10 a.m.
Kurt Pelletier, back as Windham coach after spending seven years as a referee, is pleased with how his team has responded to its new coach.
“This is a great group of wrestlers to work with,” Pelletier said. “I couldn’t be any happier with these guys. They show up for practice and work hard. For my first year back to coaching, it is a pleasure to be working with these guys.”
