Library closed on Christmas, New Year’s

Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St., will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1. On Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, the library will close early at 4:30 p.m.

The library’s regular hours are Mondays, 12:30-8 p.m.; Tuesdays 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m; Saturdays 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and closed Sundays.

Calling vendors for Marketplace

Vendor registration is available for the Gorham Business & Civic Exchange’s 12th annual Marketplace on Saturday, March 28, 2009, in the Costello Field House on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine.

Dede Perkins, executive director, said early registrants will enjoy reduced booth fees and be included in all preshow publicity.

Marketplace 2009 will showcase quality products and services available in the Gorham area. Visitors can sample food, enjoy local talent, sign up for vendor prizes, receive cost savings on show specials, and have a chance to win lots of money!

The business exchange will host a “How to Promote Your Business at Marketplace 2009” breakfast workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009. Topics include how to promote your business before and during the event, and how to set up your booth, put together a demonstration, and attract custom.

Marketplace 2009 will offer a new floor plan, more accessible parking, an expanded food court, regularly scheduled presentations, games, raffles, and a kids’ play area to encourage shoppers to stay all day. The event starts at 10 a.m. with a flag procession and continues until 3 p.m.
