The Bridgton division of United Ambulance Service passed an evaluation and became the second ambulance service in the state to be nationally accredited last month.
After a voluntary review process, United’s Bridgton division received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services. Only 120 ambulance services across the United States and Canada meet the same standards, which often exceed state and local licensing requirements. United’s Auburn/Lewiston division was the first ambulance service nationally accredited in Maine in 2006.
The Bridgton division is located at Bridgton Hospital and since 2001 has been the primary ambulance service for residents of Bridgton, Denmark and Sweden. The division also provides mutual aid to other area towns.
