Unlike the Patriots last season, the Scarborough Red Storm boys soccer team completed their perfect season with a championship.
On Saturday afternoon, the Red Storm boys capped an undefeated season with a 1-0 overtime win in the Class A state championship game against Bangor. The win, which avenges a 1-0 loss to Bangor in the 2006 title game, gives the Storm an 18-0 record on the season.
Ian Philbrick gave Scarborough the championship on a goal just 1:53 into the overtime period. Philbrick scored on a pass from Nate Tolman, igniting a celebration on the field as the Storm won their first Class A title since 2005.
