New Bar Mills pastor welcomed

The Bar Mills Community Church on Hermit Thrush Drive has a new pastor, replacing one who retired.

The Rev. Malcolm T. Hall comes to the church from Ohio, said Judith Moody, a church spokeswoman.

Hall was raised in Scituate, a small coastal town in Massachusetts. Hall received his training at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Mass., and his seminary degree at Bangor Theological in Bangor.

After a history of ministry in the New England area, Hall spent the past eight years in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, near Akron.

Moody said Hall and his wife, Sue, are happy to be back in New England and have settled in nearby Hollis. Hall is a devoted Red Sox fan and enjoys being close to the excitement of the Boston team, as well as looking forward to doing some fishing.

Hall replaces the church’s pastor of 18 years, the Rev. Dan Carr, who retired in 2006. “Pastor Phil Gage was our interim minister who we grew to love and helped us all through the transition period. And now we are going down a new road of adventure and excitement in learning new ways to grow in our faith,” Moody said.
