Town Hall open for voters
Buxton Town Clerk John Myers has announced Town Hall, 185 Portland Road, will be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 1, to issue absentee ballots and voter registration for the upcoming presidential election.
Absentee ballot applications from registered voters are being accepted with the form available at www.maine.gov:80/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl
Buxton residents can also receive absentee ballots by mail by calling Myers’ office at 929-6171.
“If you expect to vote absentee, please vote early and, if you need to register to vote, please register early,” Myers said. “We are expecting this election to surpass all prior years with historical numbers for voter turnout and your early planning will help make the process run smoothly.”

‘Pinwheels for Peace’ at school
Last month, the entire Eliza Libby School community kicked off its Project Peace curriculum with “Pinwheels for Peace Day.”
Project Peace teaches 10 lessons to all School Administrative District 6 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The program encourages attitudes and behaviors that build trust acceptance and peaceful interactions.
Kindergarten teacher Kelsey Hicks said, “The Eliza Libby staff felt this was an excellent message to send to our students. It was an even better way to show the children just how valuable and important the Project Peace curriculum is in our day-to-day lives. The students enjoyed making their pinwheels, but the highlight of the day was seeing all the pinwheels in front of the Eliza Libby sign spinning in the breeze.”
