‘Cupid & Psyche’ in library show
Warren Memorial Library, 479 Main St., will host a free, 50-minute performance of “Cupid & Psyche,” by Figures of Speech Theater, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
While based in Maine, the award-winning Figures of Speech Theatre has toured nationally and internationally since 1982. The “Cupid & Psyche” performance is adapted, produced and performed by Carol Farrell and John Farrell.
This performance is part of the monthly “Women in the Performing Arts” series, which will introduce a variety of female performers (with some male performing partners) in theater, dance and music. The goal of this series is to inspire girls of all ages toward achievement in the performing arts. This series is made possible through funding by the Cornelia Warren Community Association.
Wendy Hysko, library director, said “Cupid & Psyche” celebrates “the human spirit in the best kind of tale: a love story with a happy ending.”
An informal and interactive “Meet the Performers” session for youth interested in the performing arts will be held at 6:30 p.m.
To reserve seats or for more information, call the library at 854-5891.
The Figures of Speech performance is part of the Westbrook Arts Walk, which happens every fourth Friday in studios throughout the city. Art Walk maps are available at the front desk in the library.
