Less than a week after a fire destroyed their Standish home, a family of five moved into a new temporary home at Pine Tree Estates.
Mike Revie, Sandra Lano and their three children escaped uninjured after their mobile home caught on fire early Saturday morning.
Standish Fire and EMS, along with firefighters from Gorham, Buxton, Windham and Baldwin, responded to the blaze on 22 Holiday Lane at Pine Tree Estates at 5:36 a.m. to find the mobile home fully engulfed, according to a Standish Fire report.
Smoke from the fire, which officials say was started by a candle left lit overnight, awoke the family. Family members were able to make their way to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
Manager of the mobile and manufactured home community Todd Figenser said he was working with community members and the Red Cross to gather supplies for the family. Pine Tree Estates provided the family with a temporary home to live in rent-free.
Revie and Lano are both students who take classes online, Figenser said.
