Four new officers were appointed to the Westbrook Police Department at a ceremony last week.
Rebecca Towne and Andy York are both joining the Westbrook department from University of Southern Maine police, and recent college graduates Ryan Close and Scott Janco are new to the force.
Close, who graduated from St. Joseph’s College this spring, is a native of California, and Janco, of Yarmouth, spent four years in the military before finishing his degree at Southern Maine Community College.
Several other members of the Westbrook Police Department were promoted at the ceremony held at the Public Safety building on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Patrolmen John Desjardins, Steve Hanlon and Anthony Ciampi were all named sergeants, and Sgt. Michael Nugent was promoted to lieutenant.
