The Bonny Eagle Madness U16 softball team recently wrapped up its season with an appearance in the ASA Junior Olympic national championship tournament in Sterling, Va.
The girls won their first game of the tournament on Aug. 1, beating a team known as “The Force” (the team’s location was unavailable). That win moved the Madness into the main bracket, where they faced the Pittsford (N.Y.) Cyclones on Aug. 2. Unfortunately, the Madness fell to the Cyclones, and they were forced into the losers’ bracket, where they faced the Pennsylvania-based Shooting Stars.
A loss to the Shooting Stars put an end to the Madness’ dreams of a national championship, but in no way put a damper on their season where they clinched the Class B Maine title (which punched their ticket for the national tournament in Virginia) and won the Tewksbury (Mass.) ASA/USA fast pitch U16 tournament at the end of July.
