Deli moving

Steve Lampron, owner of Rivers Edge Deli, 57 Bridge St., said recently that the eatery is relocating at the end of August to Main Street, across from Subway.

At the deli in the mornings, a group of regulars sip coffee at the window table and talk about world politics, gas prices and cars.

Smiling Hill open farm

Smiling Hill Farm, 781 County Road, Westbrook, is one of 115 farms statewide participating in the 19th annual Open Farm Day 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The historic, 500-acre Smiling Hill Farm has Holstein cows along with a dairy store and ice cream shop.

Col. Thomas Westbrook, an early settler and city namesake, is buried on the farm.

Charest in concert

The Bob Charest Band will play 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Riverbank Park. The magazine Modern Bride has twice named the band one of the hottest 150 bands in the country.

The free concert is part of the summer series sponsored by Westbrook Recreation Department. The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will sell food and beverages beginning at 5 p.m.

Church plans service

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Westrook, 719 Main St., is having a summer service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A church spokesman, Dan Glover, said Gini Worthen would be in the pulpit at the church, which has been on a summer break.

Class plans 40th

The Westbrook High School class of 1968 will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Riverbank Park, where the local band Flashback will play.

Honors for Johnson

Jill L. Johnson of Westbrook earned first honors in the spring semester at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. Johnson, who attended Catherine McAuley High School in Portland, is a member of the class of 2011 at the university.

On dean’s list

Rose C. Forrester has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. Forrester, a 2006 graduate of Westbrook High School, is a member of the class of 2010.
