Historians cataloging significant sites

The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society is combining a project to document historic sites with an offer by an artist.

A fundraiser is in conjunction with the historic buildings project. Jan Hill, a spokeswoman for the society, said Friday that local artist Susan Orfant is taking orders to paint renderings of private residences. In her role in the project, Orfant has offered to donate 20 percent of proceeds to the society.

Hill said the project would kick off Saturday in the barn at the Brewster mansion at Tory Hill during Buxton Community Day. Hill and Orfant, who had an exhibit at a recent Westrook art show, will both be available.

For more information, Hill can be reached at 929-8895 or Orfant, 642-4219.
