Cape girls 1600:

Cape Elizabeth runners (from left) Erin Gross, Rachel Nichols, Emily Attwood and Marita Stressenger take off from the starting line in the 1,600-meter run at the Western Maine Conference outdoor track championship at Yarmouth High School on May 31 as does Falmouth’s Madeline Grygiel (center). Cape took four of the top seven spots in the event, led by Stressenger, who won the event in 5:11.98.

Cape base WM champs:

The Cape baseball team celebrates with the Western Maine Class B championship plaque after defeating Lincoln Academy 9-2 last month at Mahaney Diamond in Standish. The Capers fell to Gardiner in the Class B title game.

Cape’s Johnny Hayes fires a shot toward the goal during the Western Maine Class B boys lacrosse semifinal against Waynflete, won by the Capers 15-3. The Capers defeated Greely for the Class B West title, but fell to Yarmouth in the state championship game at Fitzpatrick Stadium last month.

Cape sb thibodeau and coach:

Cape’s Tricia Thibodeau talks with coach Joe Henrikson in the seventh inning of the Western Maine Class B softball title game against Fryeburg Academy. Thibodeau singled in the seventh for the Capers’ only hit in the game, which Fryeburg won 1-0. Thibodeau also pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out nine.
