Gowen on dean’s list
Tyler Gowen has been named to the dean’s list at the University of New England for the spring semester.
Gowen is an English major and the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, Nor’easter News. He is the son of Bruce and Mary Gowen of Gorham.
Brown excels
Seth J. Brown has been named to the dean’s list at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., for the spring semester.
Brown, a psychology major, is a junior. He is the son of James and Katherine Brown.
Gazebo concert
Bonnie Edwards & the Practical Cats will perform in concert 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, in the gazebo on the lawn at the Public Safety Building, 270 Main St.
The free concert is part of a summer concert series sponsored by the Gorham Recreation Department.
Family swing dance
The Centre of Movement School of Performing Arts is hosting a family swing dance 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at its Limington location on Route 25.
The event features mini lessons and lots of fun. Cost is $3 per person. For more information, call 839-3267 or 637-3467.
Library summer hours
Summer hours are now in effect at Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St.
The library will be closed on Saturdays until September. In a permanent change, the library will close at 5 p.m. on Thursdays.
Now in summer hours, the library will open at 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. It closes at 8 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 5 p.m. Thursdays and 12:30 p.m. Fridays.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of Public Debt reported on June 25 that the U.S. public debt was $9,370,924,106,133.47.
