The Westbrook American reported on July 3, 1963, that Wayne Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Smith of South Street, was scheduled for naval training July 8 at Newport, R.I. A naval reservist, Smith had returned from a cruise aboard the USS Tills, a destroyer.

Evelyn Pinkham of Bar Mills and Lillian Fogg of Bonny Eagle Lake entertained the Ladies Auxiliary of Bar Mills at Fogg’s cottage with 22 women attending.
