Buxton Planning Board member Caroline Segalla is running for her first full three-year term on the board and wants to find the balance between development and preservation in the town.
“I sincerely care about Buxton and where it’s headed,” said Segalla, who is finishing a one-year term on the board.
Segalla, 33, is the assistant planner in Kennebunk and holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from California State University. She has also taken geographic information system courses at the University of Southern Maine.
A native of Encino, Calif., on the outskirts of Los Angeles, she moved to Scarborough in 2004 after a motorcycle tour with her husband, John. The couple met in Alaska while she was backpacking and he was touring on his bike. John hails from Massachusetts.
The couple bought a house in Buxton in 2006. Segalla, a member of the Buxton Garden Club, said they have no children, unless you count their two cats and two dogs.
