David Savage is a 64-year-old retiree running for the Buxton Planning Board who watches all the board’s meetings on channel 5.
Though Savage doesn’t have any political experience, he is an entrenched member of the community. He has been a member of St. Anne’s Church in Gorham for 38 years and has experience as a local Scout master. He has led 13 Scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout.
Savage and his wife, Gail, have three married children, William, 40, who was a Maine state representative; Tracey, 39; and David Jr., 37. They also have four grandsons.
Savage retired as a research technologist at S.D. Warren, now Sappi Fine Paper, and holds a U.S. patent for a printing plate. He has a two-year degree from Mt. Ida College in Massachusetts, and has taken classes in paper coating at the University of Maine.
Working with the Boy Scouts required extensive travel, which kept Savage from being able to join town politics. But now that he’s got some time, he wants to get involved.
