Two upper-level positions in City Hall should be filled soon, as the search for Westbrook’s new economic development director wraps up and one for a new human resources director begins.

According to City Administrator Jerre Bryant, three candidates remain for the position of economic development director, which was vacated by Erik Carson in March, when he took a job as assistant city manager in South Portland.

Bryant said the city will make a decision by the end of the week, and promptly start advertising for a human resources director. That position became open when Tina Crellin resigned in September 2007 after a public dispute with City Councilor Michael Foley. She was paid the remainder of her salary through June, leaving the city without the money to hire a replacement.

Since Crellin’s resignation, Bryant has been acting as human resources director. He said the city hopes to fill the position by the middle of the summer.
