While most of the local teams have finally been able to get outside as the weather has started to cooperate, the Bonny Eagle softball team recently traveled to Florida for a week of preparation and fun in the sun
The Scots headed down to Walt Disney World last week to compete with high school teams from all over the country at Disney’s Spring training at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex.
The Scots had a busy schedule on the field in Florida, playing 11 games in six days. But, it wasn’t all work for the Scots at Disney, during their free time, the team took the opportunity to visit the various Disney theme parks.
This is the fifth time in 10 years that Scots’ coach Jan Corliss has taken a team to Disney to get ready for the season. For her commitment to bringing a team every other year to the Disney Spring training program, Corliss was presented with Disney’s “Fab 5” trophy commemorating her fifth visit to the program. The ceremony was held on the field prior to the start of the first game.
The trip was made possible by fundraising efforts of the Bonny Eagle Softball Boosters with such events as the annual May golf tournament, the Rock-a-thon, where the girls rock all day in the high school gym and this year, a comedy fundraiser hosted at the Gold Room.
