Pythian Temple Installs Officers

Narragansett Temple 111 of the Pythian Sisters installed a slate of officers on April 8 in its headquarters in Buxton Center.

Spring clothing sale

Plant/bake sale

Buxton resident awarded trip to Aruba

Christine MacDonald, a Buxton resident and consultant for The Body Shop At Home, the direct selling business of The Body Shop International, recently earned a trip to the Westin Aruba Resort in April. This award was achieved by nearly 200 consultants from the Body Shop At Home who accomplished the challenge criteria during the trip qualifying period of Aug. 1, 2007, to Jan. 31, 2008.

Buxton students make dean’s list

Brittany Knight of Buxton was named to the University of Massachusetts Boston Dean’s List for the Fall 2007 semester.

Amber Renee Cronin of Buxton was named to the Colby-Sawyer College Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall semester. Cronin, a member of the class of 2011, is a Communication Studies major.

Anna Gillis of Buxton, a member of the class of 2011, was named to the Stonehill College Dean’s List.

Bonny Eagle Twentieth Annual Spring Math Meet

The 20th Annual Spring Math Meet was held on Saturday, April 12, at Bonny Eagle High School. There were 139 students in grades four through six from across the district competing for top honors in the areas of arithmetic, geometry and problem solving. Fifty fourth-graders, 58 fifth-graders and 31 sixth-graders came to solve a variety of challenging math problems. The top scorers at each grade level in each category were awarded ribbons in a ceremony immediately following the math meet. Eighty-six ribbons were awarded and 28 of those were for perfect scores. Additionally, the top three scorers at each grade level were recognized for their outstanding performances. The top scorer(s) at each grade level received engraved plaques. Two sixth-grade students were recognized as Co-Champions of the meet, each earning the most points possible with perfect tests in each of the three categories.
