The Portland police officer arrested by Westbrook Police last month on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence assault is scheduled to be arraigned in Cumberland County Superior Court at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Officer Brian Regan, 39, was arrested near his house in Westbrook March 18 after his wife called the Portland police seeking assistance with a domestic violence incident, said Westbrook police Chief Bill Baker.
Regan was ordered to relinquish his police identification and weapon. As a condition of his bail, he is not to have contact with his wife. Regan was placed on administrative leave with pay.
Regan, who has been employed by the Portland Police Department for 14 years, was suspended by the department for six months in 2002 after being indicted for police brutality. He was acquitted after a criminal trial.
