A Westbrook two-family home at 147 Rochester St. was evacuated Monday following a fire on the back porch.

Westbrook Fire Department is investigating to determine cause of the fire. No one was injured, according to Deputy Fire Chief Thad Soltys.

Soltys said a resident extinguished the blaze with a garden hose before firefighters arrived. The fire scorched siding on the house.

While firefighters searched to ensure the fire hadn’t spread into the house, a family and a dog stayed warm inside a rescue unit.
