A group of residents in the Deer Hill neighborhood of Westbrook has been meeting to discuss land preservation in their neighborhood and the city as a whole.

The Deer Hill Preservation Society is working on acquiring property in the Deer Hill neighborhood, located off Tolman Street between Main Street and Warren Avenue, where developer Peter Busque is planning to build 16 homes. In addition, the group has contacted Portland Trails, Windham Land Trust, the Department of Conservation and Westbrook city offices for support in starting a land trust in Westbrook.

The group is looking for more members to join and help preserve natural areas in Westbrook. Its next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 3 at Tim Hortons on Main Street. For more information, contact Dan Allen at 854-9478 or Ann Russell at 854-2880.
