Gorham High School graduate Ben Thayer wrapped up his junior season on the hardwood at Bates College when the Bobcats fell in the New England Small College Athletic Conference quarterfinals to Bowdoin on Feb. 23. Thayer, a 6-foot-4 forward, logged 13 minutes a game for the 17-8 Bobcats, averaging two points and two rebounds a contest.
Lyndie Libby of Buxton, a 5-6 freshman guard for the University of New England women’s basketball team and a former Bonny Eagle High School standout, played 16 minutes a game for the Nor’easters (13-13), who ended their season with a loss in the quarterfinals of The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament to Western New England College on Feb. 26. Libby made 22 3-pointers during the season, shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc. She averaged 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds a game.
