The Scarborough High School varsity cheerleaders will be competing at the New England High School Cheerleading Championships on March 15 in Woburn, Mass. This is the first time the Red Storm cheerleaders have competed in this competition.
To qualify, Scarborough finished third at the state Class A cheerleading championships on Feb. 9 at the Augusta Civic Center.
The Red Storm Cheerleaders have performed at a consistently high level throughout the season. They finished third at the Western Maine Class A Regional Championships, second at the SMAA Conference Championships and second at the Red Riot Invitational.
The team has worked extremely hard over the course of the season under the leadership of Coach Dave Mannette. The team has a good balance from all four grades at the high school. Seniors: Brittny Silke, Jacqueline Fournier, Elizabeth Bolduc, Sam Cofone and Leah Paris. Juniors: Brandi Bradley, Bri Mancuso, Adair Doe and Lisa Bryant. Sophomores: Kierstin Crear, Kayla Cobb, Shelby Dahms, Tori Fortin,Kara Johnston and Meagan L’Heureux. Freshmen: Sara Messer, Kristi O’Halloran, Brooke Hall and Alex Wentworth.
